Buymarr Cultural Experience

- Dauer: 9 Stunden (ca.)
- Ort: Buymarr, Northern Territory
- Produkt-Code: PBP6HS
Buymarr homeland sits on the East Arnhem coastline of the Gulf of Carpentaria — a pristine, remote stretch of country, and traditional lands and sea of the Wangurri people. This full-day cultural tour offers a special invitation to experience Yolŋu daily life and learn and share stories of Buymarr homeland and Country.
The day begins with a traditional Welcome and smoking ceremony at Buymarr, before Traditional Owner Nathan Djerrkura and your Yolŋu guides lead you through a series of cultural activities drawn from the living traditions of the homeland. You might learn the art of crafting a yidaki (didgeridoo), work with gunga (pandanus) and local materials in a weaving session, or venture out with your guide to discover and harvest seasonal bushfoods — each activity shaped by the Yolŋu seasons and the knowledge of those who call Buymarr home.
As the afternoon light softens, your guide will take you on a sunset walk to the summit of Mt Ngarrandarra — a landmark that holds deep significance for the Wangurri people — where views across the coastline and Gulf stretch out around you.
Transfers from Nhulunbuy, a light lunch, and refreshments throughout the day are included, so all you need to bring is curiosity and openness to learning.
